Experience
|
With over thirty years’ experience handling complex regional and national business reorganizations, Steve advises the firm’s clients on all aspects of bankruptcy and out-of-court workouts and restructures. Current major engagements include the Creditors' Committee in the Tri Valley Growers Chapter 11 case, and special bankruptcy counsel to the California Attorney General in the Pacific Lumber, PG&E, Worldcom, and Enron Chapter 11 cases.

Education
|
Steve received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New York at Buffalo in 1968, and his Juris Doctor from Hastings College of the Law, University of California in 1973. He began his legal career clerking for the Honorable Thomas J. MacBride, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, from 1973 to 1975.

Steve is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Bankruptcy and is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized for over twenty years as one of
The Best Lawyers in America, and more recently by Super Lawyers of Northern California, Who’s Who In America and Who’s Who in American Law. He lectures extensively on bankruptcy and commercial law issues for, among others, the California Continuing Education of the Bar and the Practicing Law Institute. He is an adjunct professor at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he teaches a bankruptcy course. He also co-authored the chapter on representing individual and small business debtors in Chapter 11 in the two volume treatise by the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) entitled Personal and Small Business Bankruptcy Practice in California. A founding director of the Sacramento Valley Bankruptcy Forum and its president in 1994, he served as president of the statewide California Bankruptcy Forum in 1999. He was a member of the Insolvency Law Committee (2000-2002) and the Uniform Commercial Code Committee (1983 to 1985) of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California.
